Rice is once again “Owl in for Houston”! This year’s Rice United Way Campaign is officially underway, and we’re inviting every member of our community to join in supporting our neighbors and critical nonprofit organizations across Greater Houston. Last year, thanks to the generosity of hundreds of Rice colleagues, we raised more than $140,000 — pushing the university’s total contributions to over $3.65 million in the past 15 years. Way to go, Owls!

The need in our community remains great: Nearly half of our neighbors live below the poverty line or struggle to afford life’s necessities. Through partnerships with the Kinder Institute for Urban Research and more than 100 local charities, United Way of Greater Houston addresses these challenges head-on — helping families achieve financial stability, providing food and shelter, and supporting young people as they build foundations for success. Every dollar donated stays in our community, producing measurable, lasting results.
